ECHANGE THERESE D'AVILA / KING'S COLLEGE 2008-2009
OUR ACTIVITIES IN FRANCE :
SILLY SPORTS. BY BASTIEN AND RONAN.
In March, our English correspondents came to France in order to learn our culture !
They visited the " Vieux Lille" (the old quarter).
One day, we went to "Decathlon Campus"with our English friends, to do strange and funny sports.
We thought we might be playing football, or other not too original sports. But the teachers said we'd play human-size table football, basketball with one hand tied up to a patner's, and sumo wrestling with a very special suit !!
We were thrilled with the set up and looked forward to beginning the games.
We think the best game was the sumo with the big and very funny suit!
After that, we went on to play INQUEST. It was a game played with teams where the winner was the best team that gained the most points.
There were 4 stages:
First stage: you had a symbol (a spider, a skull, the "peace and love" symbol ...) and you had to find your symbol and the symbol of your partners.
Second stage: you had a badge, you and your partners had to show it in front of a laser ray to win points.
Third stage: it was an intelligence test, your culture about everything (actors, series, sports...).
Fourth stage: it was an adventure course in the air. It was very high! ! !
At the end of the game, there was a difficult question ( an enigma).
What a day ! After this game, you were sure to lose a few kilos so you could relax and plunge your weary body in a good bath to have rest and a good night !
OUR HOST FAMILIES in ENGLAND:
Eva
When I arrived in the family, it was very good because my correspondent's parents were very friendly with me.
The first day it was a little difficult because I found it hard to communicate but her mother helped me by speaking French a little.
My correspondent is very friendly too.
During the week-end, we went to the festival with Flora, Hermione, Matthew, Charlotte, Nastasia and Benjamin. After that, we all had dinner together.
OUR SCHOOL in ENGLAND: "The school". By
Our activities and visits in England : Marie-Camille : The first day, when we arrived in the school, we went to the library for the welcome party. It was beautiful and big and impressive. There were sofas,a lot of books etc.... After that the correspondents arrived and we meet our host family. We spent the week-end with them. On Monday, we went to London with our correspondent. We visited the London eye and took a riverboat to the tower of London. The London eye is a big Ferris wheel in London, it's very big unlike the Eiffel tower. We took a transparent capsule .In the transparent capsule there were: Charlotte, Nastasia , Marie, Benjamin, Hermione, Holly, Flora, Bryony, Matthew, Mrs Antoniutti, Mrs Thomas..... In the capsuleMrs Thomas was sick! We could see the main monuments of London.
On Tuesday morning, we went to school and we had lunch at school. After that, we played water-polo in the swimming pool, then we played rounders, it's a good sport. On Wednesday, we (the French) visited Bath while our correspondents stayed at school. There, we visited the Roman Baths and the Abbey, after which we did some shopping. In the evening, at school, we played bowling. ROUNDERS. by Adeline In England, Laura's host family and mine made us discover a new game: Rounders. It was just a little difficult to understand at the beginning but I ran when the family shouted RUN!!! At the end, I understood but it was too late... ^^ We have to hit the ball with the bat, to leave it and to run very quickly to run around the field once to win a point before the other team catches up the ball. I didn't win many points for my part ^^ contrary to Laura who was very strong. This game is like baseball but it is typically English. It was very funny.
OUR OPINION ABOUT THE EXCHANGE :
The exchange was very interesting for me. I learnt much vocabulary and I discovered the English everyday life and traditions. I was allowed to try delicious Scones. Contrary to what we think, they eat at the same time as us ^^. We saw Prince Charles !!! The director's home was the most beautiful and the biggest I have ever seen but it was nothing compared to our school. We often got lost there. Their learning resources was twice the size of our sports room... We didn't want to return to our school in France...
Eva
The Bath and West Show. By Nastasia and Charlotte.
I want to live in Taunton ! ! It is so nice !
This city has got a lot of trees, a park with a pond.
In the park, there is a mini-golf.
I played there with my correspondent but he easily won.
The houses are big and their gardens are very nice, with a lot of flowers and plants.
There, the school is very big compared with mine. There are three grounds of cricket, a swimming-pool, a theatre room...
The canteen is very good. Pupils can sleep in their school and in the morning, for the breakfast, they can choose milk with cereals, bacon or sausage. The food is hot and not cold or blown like in France!
The lessons are not really the same as ours. For example, in science, they have got protection glasses. They are lucky because they haven't got punishments.
The best in England is that, during the week-end, people have got weird garments : red, green or multicoloured tights or a green jacket.
I keep a very good memory ! !
